In 1990, Sky Television which actually started up Eurosport kicked them out and launched Sky Sports instead. Sky Sports had very cool idents in the beginning. With CGI graphics and nice music. This knocked Eurosport a lot.

Launched on 25th of March 1990

It really seems as if the launch of Eurosport by Sky Television in February 1989 was just a way to launch Sky Sports one year later. Eurosport remained on Sky Europe frequency in Europe and then was totally abandoned on 25th of March 1990. Eurosport was then later on sold to the TF1 Group and merged with Screensport on 1st of March 1993.

Sky Sports has been the dominant Sky subscription television sports brand in the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1990. It has played a major role in the increased commercialisation of British sport since 1991. But as with many channels, they also changed their ident. Sky Television had some really nice idents in the beginning of the 90s and this one is the first Sky Sports ident.
