Historic, Adventure and Lots of humor in The Mysterious Cities Of Gold

The year is 1532. Esteban, a young boy, which looses his father in the beginning is told that he was saved by Mendoza, a navigator on a Spanish ship from a ship wreck in a storm at sea. The only clue however that we get in the beginning is that his identity is a medal that Esteban wears about his neck. Esteban joins Mendoza on a trip from Spain to the new world. They goto the Americas – where on route he and Mendoza meets two other children. Zia, which is an Inca girl and Tao, which becomes the last member. He is from a highly advanced race.

All three are looking for different things. Esteban is on the journey to find his father and his identity, Zia for her father and Tao for remains of his race. Together they explore and get this unique friendship together. The Mysterious Cities Of Gold is for sure a cartoon that can teach both young viewers and adults a few things. The clues for all three quests however all point to The Mysterious Cities of Gold and so the children, Mendoza, Sancho and Pedro. The two last ones are just funny and clumsy sailors and friends of Mendoza start searching in a massive treasure hunt for the Cities Of Gold.

This adventure anime that was a co-operation between France and Japan gave children hope and exploration interest. At the end of each episodes, the cartoon makers included small documentary movies about the places where they are in the story of the cartoon. No one makes cartoons like this anymore.
